Artist Statement:
"This series of Egyptian inspired prints are combination prints where I work with both monoprints and paper lithography. The monoprint process is created using acrylic plates that I ink up with oil based inks.
Lithography is a printing process that uses a flat stone, metal plate or in this case paper on which the image areas are worked using a greasy substance so that the ink will adhere to them while the non-image areas are made ink-repellent.
It is through this dual process approach that I create a unique and one-of-a-kind piece, which I have printed onto BFK Rives printmaking paper on an etching press.
Other methods I enjoyed using for this series are polymer etchings. This is a process where I am able to transfer my image onto a polymer coated light sensitive metal plate which is then exposed to UV light, cured and then inked and printed on an etching press."
